I approach you as a warrior that needs war skills, strategic plans, training to overcome the enemies that lurk at every turn in Hollywood or any new career you start.
Hollywood and others have the emotional, the esoteric, the negative factor against anyone or anything that takes they can take on Hollywood.

Being careful is important in Hollywood, but trusting your instincts is the best way to survive. Because some people's advice is jealousy, fear that you will make it and they won't. The best person you can have a reasonable basis of trusting is "They they stand to benefit from your success, either through as being a Publicist and having a successful client that adds to their client list, as a Manager who invest his time, money and resources to get you going and rising in the business, to an Agent that makes commission off of your work.
Acting Coaches make it off you paying for classes and they being able to see you succeed, but only as part of your training. If they are so focused on you developing your craft they are a good find in Hollywood.
If they are so focused on developing their Acting Career then check it out. If they want to mange your career look out. It takes ours to develop talent as a manager, it takes hours to keep up with the business.
It amazes me that Acting Coaches can develop their acting "career", their coaching "career" and be telling people how to manage their career. IF YOU WANT TO BE A MANAGER GET SOME GUTS AND WORK ON 15% INSTEAD OF COLLECTING A FEE FROM STUDENTS. The law and ethics doesn't allow managers to do that why should you trust someone that does that as a coach.
Casting Directors-Their benefit to you is directing you in what they see the producers and directors want and are looking for. But they can only do that after you develop your craft.
Producers and Directors-Can't help you get started unless you are able to put out, and that is in front of a camera with a well developed ability to showcase your ability. Otherwise you cost them money and you had better be fantastic to think they will take a risk on anything else.
The biggest thing that an actor or entertainment person that has been here for longer than a month is wanting to be an expert, to tell others how to make it, when they are trying every themselves.

If you don't have a good manager, that can help you with the foundation, the tactics, the publicity, marketing and strategies then you will lose the war to conquer and to be victorious in the "New Hollywood". |
