A Talent Manager is a professional engaged in advising and
counseling talent and personalities in every aspect of the entertainment
industry.
As an actor in
Hollywood
you will get pulled every direction by every friend, enemy, colleague, actor,
acting coach, director, producer, sales pitch, etc. Most with good intentions but most not knowing what they are talking about and for the pros, they don't have the time or need to understand your overall you or plan, or your destiny vision. It's not their job.
A manager’s job is to oversee all of this and fiercely watch
how you are being influenced so you can be developed in the way that he/she and you
decided that is needed.
Like a snowflake, every single person is unique. There is no one else out there like you.
It is that position as manager as the most important part as captain of your team to know you and to help you put it all together in a way that fits and works. This to have your craft developed and showing the real you and to make it marketable, appealing to the Agents, Casting Directors, Producers and Directors, in a way that fits you.
T he connection with your manager is to be the overseer to keep you on your track, personally, professionally, branding and business wise.
Like a Jewish Mother (m/f) a manager is there.
